Are New Year’s Resolutions powerful or pointless? Much advice about New Year’s Resolutions is given, but how much of it works? New Year Resolutions are usually set up as new goals that last for however long a person may want to achieve something. A Vox.com article said, “Sticking to a resolution is far easier when it aligns with your priorities.” Having certain goals lined up for your life at the right time will make it easier to accomplish them.
Taking the time to think about what matters most to you in life is essential. It is significant to think about how self-improvement can serve your value. Maybe start with adding whole fresh fruits if you plan on eating healthier food but are not ready to cut out everything. Taking baby steps while working towards your goal is helpful. In the end, when you have reached your goal, you will realize that every step is powerful.
It is important to be specific and precise with how you will work toward your goals. Milkman states in a Vox.com article, “The problem with resolution is they’re too abstract. I’m going to be more patient; I’m going to volunteer more. I will save money.” Goals like these are commendable, although they do not offer a guide on how you can achieve those resolutions. Being specific with your goal requires you to ask yourself when, how, and the first step you will take to get there.
At the start of reaching your goals, it may be uncomfortable. If there is a way you can make them more fun and rewarding, go for it. People are unlikely to adapt to change when it gets boring and painful. If you make your experience fun and enjoyable, you can breeze through it. Even including a friend with the same goals as you may make the journey fun.
If you keep your New Year’s resolutions, they can be very effective. They can also be useless if you make them and don’t follow through in achieving them. Working toward and being serious about your goals will get you to where you need to go quickly. New Year’s resolutions are doable. However, it is critical that you prepare yourself for the difficult moments during your journey and unpredicted obstacles that may arise before those resolutions are realized.
