A seven-foot giant entered an NBA game on October 25, 2023. The crowd went wild. After seeing what this 7’4 player was able to do pre-season, the fans couldn’t wait to see what he would do at his regular season debut.
Victor Wembanyama stands at an outstanding seven feet and four inches. He started playing basketball at a young age. When he was ten, that is when he really began playing seriously. He entered many good programs and received much attention for his height. Once, Wembanyama was mistaken as a coach at
an under-11 game because he was 5’11.
In the 2019-20 season, Wembanyama entered his first professional experience, playing with the Nanterre 92 senior team under head coach Pascal Donnadieu. Wembanyama was the top NBA prospect; therefore, he is the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft.
Wembanyama amazed crowds during his pre-season games. Although most players in the NBA are tall, Wembanyama still towers over many of them. With his great height, play-making ability, and shooting ability, he was able to show off. Leading up to his debut game, all fans were super pumped up.
Unfortunately, Wembanyama performed below expectations. During the first three quarters, his stat lines could have been better. He scored only six points and went two of four for shooting. Not only that, but he also got into foul trouble. But luckily, during the last quarter, he went on a scoring streak, earning nine points in three minutes.
Although Wembanyama didn’t do his best at his debut game, he is showing off his talents now. The
NBA season recently started, and Wembanyama has been giving his all. He has achieved an average of 20.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. This feat is very shocking for the basketball world. These stats have never been seen from a rookie since Lebron James, one of the greatest basketball players. Wembanyama has scored more points than Lebron in the first five games of their careers while having less playing time on the court.
Through these fantastic achievements, Victor Wembanyama is slated to have a rewarding rookie year and possibly get Rookie of the Year. Victor is predicated on earning $12.2 million in just his first season. His salary can, and most definitely will increase. If Wembanyama continues his impressive scoring and play-making techniques, he will earn much more and even become one of the greatest players in history. Unfortunately, due to his physique, he is highly prone to injuries, specifically in his legs and arms. All NBA fans have to hope for is that he won’t get injured and will have a fantastic career.
