‘Halloweekend’ was filled with dozens of different activities, ranging from trick-or-treating to flash mobs, providing frights and scares to everyone. Since Halloween fell on a Thursday this year, events were extended to Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, keeping the opportunity for people to dress up and go all out. Hundreds of cities contributed, celebrating the spooky holiday. It was a record-breaking turnout this year, as many attended haunted houses, parties, events, and other festivities, attracting crowds and tourists.
Activities included fun for all ages, from family-friendly events like pumpkin painting to more grown-up activities such as parties and clubs. Everyone was involved this year, including local businesses and schools, with many adults attempting to make this a great spooky Halloween for the younger ones in the area.
Along with the family-friendly activities, there was fun for the grown-ups as well. This included nighttime parties and costume contests. Local bars and restaurants also capitalized on the festivities, offering themed cocktails, food specials, and costume contests to draw in crowds.
There were also many large events. In New York, a massive Thriller dance mob emerged and began to go viral across social media platforms. The popular Haunted Hayride in LA was open and running, as well as many other major gatherings in big cities. “It’s amazing to see how Halloween has evolved into a celebration that brings together entire communities, from kids trick-or-treating to adults partying the night away. This year, the energy was electric, and the turnout was unlike anything we’ve seen before,” said Jamie Thompson, who is the event organizer for the Haunted Hayride in LA.
Most of the Halloween weekend went by smoothly; however, the large crowds did cause minor issues. Extra precautions were taken this year to prevent any major mishaps, with police and security roaming the streets, and certain streets were closed off to prevent trick-or-treaters from wandering. Overall, the Halloween weekend went smoothly, leaving everyone with great memories of a fun and spooky season.
