As we march on through May and the spring season, women from all over the world are searching for the latest and greatest spring clothing trends for 2024. From designer stores like Gucci, to more affordable apparel shops like Hollister Co., stores from all ranges of wealth are hopping on these style movements, making it possible for all women to jump in on the fun! The prominent clothing crazes that seem to be appearing on the runway and in local clothing businesses include the icy blue color, trench coats, and slimmer shoes. These trends will certainly make for a stylish and fashionable spring and summer season in 2024!
Looking back on the past few months, the color red has taken the spotlight in women’s fashion. However, expect the spotlight to shift to cooler and lighter colors like sky and icy blues.
Last spring, in 2023, the trending shades were prominently butter yellow and Barbie pink, and in 2022, hues of purple and blues were seen throughout women’s wardrobes around the world. Not unlike this spring’s trend of trench coats, in the spring of 2023, oversized blazers were a very popular garment to complement one’s look or makeup its entirety. This spring season of 2024 is the second season in a row where chunky sneakers have been put in the rearview mirror while slimmer and sportier sneakers like the Adidas Sambas take their place. “The color icy blue is very flattering when people get tan in the spring and summer and is the perfect color for bikinis,” Amelia Ptak ’27 said.
Along with dazzling blue bathing suits, icy blue dresses are also stopping people in their tracks during this spring 2024 season. For instance, the Premium Linen Scalloped Midi Dress from Abercrombie and Fitch priced at 130 dollars is a striking piece to add to a spring wardrobe. Pops of red, orange, and brown add a nice compliment to the central icy blue pieces and keep them in style. “Flattering shoes like the Adidas Sambas are very comfortable and cute. With these shoes, you don’t have to worry about your feet being in pain while trying to look cute,” said Kelsey Edmonson ’27.
These slim and sporty sneakers can be paired with anything from high-end dresses to relaxed sweatpants. Some of the popular colors these shoes have been seen in are bold colorways of blue and yellow along with the basic yet practical colors of white and black. The Adidas Sambas, Gola Bullet Sneakers, and Dolce Vita Notice shoes are just a few examples of these types of brilliant sneakers.
When it comes to outerwear, traditional pieces are trending. “Trench Coats are coming back into style. They are perfect to throw on when there is a summer breeze in the air and complete the city women look,” said Danielle Chuy ’27. Trench coats are both stylish and practical. They serve as the perfect covering for when there is a chill in the air or a light spring shower but can also make for a cute and modern look. They are mostly found in neutral colors such as brown, beige, white, and gray. Some of the iconic brands include Saint Laurent, Ferragamo, H&M, and Bottega Veneta.
